Obituary of Rudy Martens

Rudy MartensRudy died peacefully at the age of 77 on Friday, March 2, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born second of five children to Gerhard and Anna (Froese) Martens on September 11, 1934 in Winnipeg, MB. Following his teaching career of 35 years in Manitoba, he and his wife Susan moved to Abbotsford, BC in 1996.

Rudy was predeceased by one sister Anna, and one brother Gerhard in early childhood, and later by his parents. Rudy will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 52 years, Susan (Kasdorf) Martens, two sons, their wives and children: Daryl and Shirley, Asia, Sydney, Mason. Kevin and Lisa, Taylor, Jenna, Danielle. He is also survived by one sister Hilda and Art Kasper, one brother Herb and Hilda Martens, one niece, three nephews and their families.

A celebration of Rudy’s life was held on Wednesday, March 7, 11 am at Bakerview Church in Abbotsford.
